Join us on Thursday, March 2 at TopGolf Charlotte Southwest for our Annual Young Leader Members Workshop! This year's event will feature a workshop with Michael Riegel, Director at A/E/C Strategies. Michael will speak to "Young Leaders about Navigating Conflict and Tricky Conversations." After the workshop, Young Leaders are encouraged to stay for lunch and networking with their industry peers at TopGolf!

Topic: Navigating Conflict & Tricky Conversations

Michael RiegelBeing a successful team member requires having conversations that are difficult, not to mention important, awkward, tricky, meaningful, and powerful. The goal isn’t to avoid these conversations; it’s to find ways to have these conversations effectively. Typical measures of success are often weighted on the delivery of a project by objective standards: on-time, on-budget, safely, and to the client’s satisfaction.  Underlying those goals is the ability to have effective communications up, down, and across an organization or project team.

This workshop gives participants simple, direct ways to see conflict and resistance as opportunities for communication and growth. Participants learn how to approach difficult conversations with skill and confidence. Whether you are a Project Manager delivering a challenging schedule or budget update to a client, a leader providing a performance review or feedback, or a team member raising a project concern, the ability to manage the conversation will set you apart from your peers.  Practical, interactive exercises teach participants how to prepare for and have difficult conversations, manage conflict, give effective feedback, and receive and take action on feedback.
