CAGC mourns the loss of Andrea Harris of the NC Institute of Minority Economic Development, who passed away last week.

In addition to Andrea’s involvement in helping develop thousands of women-owned and minority-owned businesses across the state, she was also a close ally of Carolinas AGC. “We are saddened by the loss of Andrea Harris, a pioneer and tireless advocate of women and minorities who helped bring more diversity to the construction industry over more than two decades of work together with Carolinas AGC,” said Dave Simpson, CAGC President and CEO. “She was a terrific leader and friend who always made good on her promises – and her legacy lives on in the continuing good work of the North Carolina Institute of Minority Economic Development.”

An example of Andrea’s leadership was her efforts with the CAGC Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Academy, which helped dozens of mostly minority participants graduate and go into successful careers in the construction industry in recent years. The HUB Academy was a team effort with the Institute and the UNC System. CAGC also works closely together with her and the Institute on several legislative issues.
