We are proud to be a part of the two newly launched NC Be Pro Be Proud Trucks which are officially on the road visiting schools and communities across North Carolina to promote careers in construction. Following South Carolina's lead, the NC trucks include simulators for hands-on experiences with construction trades and will visit elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and community events. Carolinas AGC was instrumental in working with legislators to secure the funds necessary to get these trucks on the road. The two trucks are expected to visit with 40,000 students a year in NC.
“The biggest challenge we have in the construction industry in the Carolinas is the workforce shortage – and our Be Pro Be Proud Trucks in NC and SC will go a long way in attracting students, young people, veterans and others to exciting, life-long careers,” said Dave Simpson, CAGC President & CEO.
Several North Carolina elected officials were in attendance at the October 20 launch event to share their support with dozens of spectators including U.S. Representative Virginia Foxx; NC Representatives Matthew Winslow, Jason Saine, Dean Arp, and David Willis; NC Senator Todd Johnson; NC Commissioner of Labor Josh Dobson; and NC Superintendent of Public Instruction Catherine Truitt.
