View CAGC JCR's
JCR stands for Joint Committee Recommendations which are developed by the respective Joint Cooperative Committees of Carolinas AGC and the state AIA Chapters in North Carolina and South Carolina. JCRs for each state recommend guidelines for avoiding and solving problems on issues ranging from not issuing last-minute addenda to the best times for bids and are the result of decades of work involving architects and contractors who have reached agreements on industry-related subjects.
Recently, the SC CAGC/AIASC Joint Committee reviewed and updated the SC JCR’s. Specifically, the committee:
- Made necessary changes to staff names, contacts, addresses for both AIASC/CAGC staff
- Fixed a handful of grammatical errors and updated “revision dates” on amended JCR’s
- Updated references, throughout, to the most current AIA A201 Document
- Deleted all references to the CAGC Plan Rooms.
- Deleted three JCR’s the committee determined are no longer relevant
The Carolinas AGC Board of Directors approved the committee’s revisions at their Board of Directors meeting August 19.
Jim Roberts, Langston Construction Co., is the CAGC Co-Chair for the Joint Committee in SC and served as a committee member before that. Jim had this to say about the Committee, the JCR’s and the recently adopted changes.
“The AIA Chapters/CAGC Joint Committees are another reason that your membership dues are one of the best investments you can make as a contractor. This group of dedicated professionals keep a pulse on various challenges that arise from both Architects and Contractors. They work diligently to find solutions that are mutually agreeable to both parties to provide the members a “best practices” guide on how to address what could otherwise be challenging situations. The updated JCR’s more accurately reflect both of our industries in modern times. We encourage all members bring potential challenges to CAGC representatives and committee members as the group is actively looking for ways to improve relationships between architects and contractors for the good of the industry.” Jim Roberts, Langston Construction Co.
If you are looking to read the JCR’s for the first time or if you need a re-fresher you can access them, for both states, on our CAGC website which is linked here.
“The NC/SC Joint Committee Recommendations that we develop for each state serve as excellent ways to make for smooth construction projects and sidestep problems, from job bidding to shop drawings to closeout and guarantees/warranties. We commend the AIA Chapters/CAGC Joint Committees in both South Carolina and North Carolina for spending so much time with these JCRs and keeping them up to date and timely,”
Dave Simpson, CAGC President and CEO.
